OUR PROJECTS

NEW ECONOMY DRIVE PARCEL:
Recruit one or more commercial projects to buy and develop this property from Beemac

After purchasing an empty former brownfield parcel adjacent to the Ambridge Historic District, Beemac Trucking applied for and received a $1.57 million, 15-year state loan in July 2019 towards the construction of a multi-million-dollar industrial facility. The 7.1-acre parcel was zoned specifically for Commercial - not Industrial - use as a result of an EPA-supervised cleanup more than a decade ago and meant to be reserved for pedestrian-friendly, light businesses and/or affordable housing. Due to the efforts of Ambridge Concerned Citizens and our zoning attorney, Beemac has recently ceased all legal actions and has placed the parcel back on the market.

Throughout the months of legal battling, ACC continued to reach out to developers and others and to research comprehensive redevelopment and growth plans in similar communities to put together proactive win-win-win possibilities for this Commercial parcel. Now that the parcel is back on the market, we are in a position to support a different, more appropriate solution. In order to continue to serve as a watchdog, we need to pay monies due to our counsel and continue to maintain a financial reserve until the parcel is resold to a reliable Commercial use developer. We are interested in both the use itself and the harmonious appearance of any new structures with neighboring Harmonist buildings.

Get Involved!

The trucking facility proposal has been defeated, but we now need to make sure that the next buyer has a plan the conforms to the best vision for Ambridge and the Historic District. We are asking all Ambridge residents to help us in this fight by donating their time and resources toward the awareness campaign and the continuing retention of our highly capable attorney. By pooling our resources, we can make certain that applicable laws and ordinances are honored, and that Ambridge continues to grow into its new identity as a place of beauty and culture where the best of our Harmonist and industrial eras are preserved as we become a thriving river town once again.
